Canvas Quizzes
Quizzes Tool
Quizzes can be a vital component of online and virtual learning. They are equivalent to timed assessments found in face-to-face courses. Because quizzes differ from one course to the next, it is important to learn more about how they work and what the expectations are for you when taking a quiz.
In the Quizzes tool, you may find graded and ungraded surveys, quizzes, and exams. Depending on the settings put in place by each instructor, quizzes may vary in question format and delivery, what constraints you will be held to, and the timing and content of feedback.

Quizzes Tips
- Many quizzes in WorldClassRoom will be timed and permit only one attempt. Therefore it is important to prepare yourself both mentally and technologically before clicking the Take the Quiz button.
- For instance, tests should be taken in a quiet location that will have a steady internet connection for the entire duration of the test.
- Make sure you have enough time to finish the quiz by knowing ahead of time how long you will have to take the quiz.
- If you lose internet connection or you have a problem with your computer during the test, you may need to describe what happened to the instructor via the Conversations tool and request another attempt. Instructors have the discretion to determine whether to grant another attempt and may not accommodate students who repeatedly request additional attempts.
- In Online courses, quizzes are often linked directly into the learning module in which the quiz is due. Though a quiz may be visible in the Quizzes tool or learning module, you will only be able to open it during the availability period and if you have completed all prerequisite activities. If a quiz isn't available but should be, contact your instructor immediately via the Conversations Inbox.
- You should always read the quiz description before beginning your attempt. Carefully read the instructions entered by your instructor. Also review the table, which tells you the number of Questions, Limits like time and number of attempts, how many Points are possible, the Due Date, and Availability.
You should only click the Take the Quiz button after you have read the description, studied for the quiz, and found a quiet place where you will have consistent internet access for the entire duration of the quiz.

- Quiz settings will determine how questions are delivered.
- Questions may be delivered all at once or individually. This setting will be determined by your instructor.
- You may or may not be allowed to revisit questions.
- While taking the quiz, your answers will auto-save.
- Be sure to keep an eye on the time on the right side of the screen. The system WILL SUBMIT your quiz at the end of the allotted time, whether you are ready or not!
