Canvas - Submitting an Assignment and Reviewing Feedback
Viewing a Submitted Assignment and Reviewing Feedback
In addition to a grade, your instructor may leave you detailed feedback or comments on an assignment. You can view a submitted assignment by going to either:
-
Assignments in the Course Tools Menu and clicking on the name of the assignment you wish to review.
- You will be taken to a page where you can review the assignment instructions and, in the sidebar on the right side, the Submit Assignment button has been replaced by a Submission box containing information about your submission.
- Click on the Submission Details link to view your submission, instructor comments, the grade, or to send a conversation message about the assignment to your instructor.

-
Grades in the Course Tools Menu and clicking on the name of the assignment you wish to review.
- A window will open with details about your grade, feedback comments, and rubric scoring (if applicable).

Reviewing Instructor Feedback
There are multiple ways your instructor may provide feedback to you on assignments, including through general comments, media comments, or inline comments typed directly onto your submitted assignment. In particular, it is important to understand how to access and review inline comments. In the section above, you learned how to access the assignments from the Grades area. Once you click on the link, you will see a page that gives you access to:
- A preview of your assignment submission
- Your grade
- Comments from your instructor on your paper
- Comments from your instructor off to the right side
- Access to the assignment rubric, if used by the instructor
You will then be able to view any inline comments your instructor has provided. An example of this is shown below.
